I’m thrilled to open the doors of my upstate studio to the public on Saturday and Sunday, July 23 and 24!

The third edition of UPSTATE ART WEEKEND (UPAW) will take place July 22-24, 2022, incorporating sculpture parks, museums, galleries, residencies, creative projects and open studios situated in the Catskills and Hudson Valley.

The inaugural edition in 2020 included twenty three participants, 2021 had more than sixty and this year includes locations from eight counties in New York State, up from six last year. Upstate Open Studios is a new addition in 2022, increasing visibility of artists and creatives who wish to open their studios to the public.

This self-directed, accessible event connects tourists and locals alike, with art and the outdoors, celebrating the cultural vibrancy of Upstate New York.

Founded in 2020 to celebrate the cultural vibrancy of Upstate New York, UPSTATE ART WEEKEND connects people and places, building a community that not only visits for the weekend, but explores the Hudson Valley throughout the year.

Gowanus’ best art event of the year is happening again soon and I’m ready for it! I will be showing old and new work, mostly from my ongoing sculptural series “Drawings in Three Dimensions” and the sketches upon which they are based. I will also be sharing my space with fellow Gowanus artist Chen Reichert whose humorous illustrations and soft sculptures have been sold at such venues as the Brooklyn Museum and The National Gallery.

My studio is located at Brooklyn Art Cluster in the basement of 540 President Street, Brooklyn NY. But don't go through the main entrance. It's easier to go through the parking lot entrance just behind these metal doors: shorturl.at/kEOU6.

Join me and hundreds of other artists as we welcome visitors for Gowanus Open Studios. I am a new member of Brooklyn Art Cluster, just across from Spaceworks.

When: 12 - 6pm, Saturday October 20th and Sunday October 21st

Where: 540 President Street. Please enter through the gray gate to the left of the main entrance (not up the stairs). Once you're inside the building, Brooklyn Art Cluster is through the doors on the right-hand side.

Why: It is truly one of the most fun events of the year – and totally free!
